When she began to study at Bauhaus at the beginning of 1924, Gropius introduced a new theory which is that “art and technology, a new unity” for the school. This aesthetic change strongly influenced Brandt’s own work. Brandt was the first woman to attend the metalworking studio, and replaced László Moholy-Nagy (1987.1100.158) as studio director in 1928.
